Instruction Description
Dr. Stocks talked about alveolar recruitment through various methods and how to know if the method is being effective. He showed x-rays of different degrees of atelectasis in patients following surgery and then the before an after x-rays when alveolar recruitment maneuvers were performed. I couldn't understand everything, but I did learn how alveoli are easily lost to collapse during surgery and how important recruitment is after surgery.

Instruction Description
This lecture was a little interesting but I didn't understand a lot of it. I think the doctor was uncomfortable with our questions and he was a little dry in his lecture.
Student Daily Notes
Journal (observations, impressions, etc)
Today was a super interesting. I learned a lot. My preceptor, Johnathan was great. I actually go passed off to another preceptor after lunch, which was also awesome. I was a little nervous doing my first arterial blood gas, but it worked. I didn't miss.
